Always good food

This is definitely our favorite place to eat in Hattiesburg! They have great food, friendly service and it’s very family friendly! There’s no alcohol served which is a plus for us. If you go very often they become like family. I love the chocolate cake, cookies and homemade salad dressing! ❤️

Great buffet for a decent price. The staff here is always nice, and the food is always good. I have never got anything off of their buffet that wasn't fresh.

Southern style food...if you want the true down south flavor and selection, then this is the buffet for you.

Southern cooking at its best. Great variety of veggies. Really good salad bar. Wednesday's meats included fried and baked chicken, meat loaf and country fried steak. The dessert bar was scarce. Somewhat pricey but overall it was a very nice buffet. I wil come back.

Just like a home cooked meal every time.

Large dining area, excellent service, unique decor and ambiance, and delicious food. Five of us ate lunch here and our total was $64 before tip, which is a bit pricey, but we didn’t leave hungry. They even have a dessert bar with brownies, banana pudding, apple cobbler, blueberry cobbler, and blue bell ice cream. Couple that with their awesome fried okra, and you have a winner.

Great place to eat, great food, fairly priced, and exceptional service! My husband and I ordered the steak dinner for two. The steaks are absolutely wonderful!!! The place is really neat, so many cool things to look at. Overall we were both beyond satisfied with our trip there. Salad bar is really good by the way!

Movie Star was as awesome as always We have been going to this restaurant since it was located in Purvis. The people that work there are sooo friendly and go out of their way to do anything at all to make your visit special. The food is consistently delicious. Love the many choices of vegatables and meats. The salad area is so full of many choices. The desserts are full of goodness for your tummy. If you should leave this restaurant hungry, it is your fault for sure!!

This place severs good old fashioned southern food. If you like country styled food with a laid back atmosphere, this is a good place to try. It is a buffet that has items such as mashed potatoes, okra, greens, fried chicken, etc. The only down side is that it can be pricey for some.

Movie Star catered a private Christmas party for my husband's work. It was a nice low key evening with good food and a casual atmosphere.

The food is good, not great..the green beans were not seasoned, the smoked chicken was dry and the greens were bland.

If you enjoy country style cooking, you are in for a real treat. For those on special diets, the veggie options are nice. I often eat just veggies.

I have lived in Hattiesburg since 2002. Today was our first time eating there. I must say that it was reasonably priced and the food was great. If it's southern soul that you crave. You will definitely enjoy Movie Star. We enjoyed our server- Cody, very friendly and great personality! I have no pics of the food bc we didn't touch our phones until we were done! That's how good it was! (Well this is me headed to Movie Star, lol!)

There is no shortage of buffet restaurants in south Mississippi, but if you want the best, with the biggest selection of delicious food, this is where you go.

Simple country food. Or maybe simple comfort food. Either way, it is GOOD! There were four meat choices that I saw, several different sides and bread/cornbreads. I honestly didn't have room for the salad bar, but it looked stocked and clean. There is a dessert table in the back that had a blueberry pineapple cobbler, and two other choices which were irrelevant because I only had eyes for the blueberry cobbler! Honestly, the squash casserole was so good that it was a toss up between seconds or the cobbler. My waitress was attentive and friendly. I definitely recommend Movie Star!

Went over with the group I work with and thoroughly enjoyed the food as.all the other times. The personnel that run the place and the wietreses are all just as friendly as can be.

If you like southern food this restaurant is for you! The Movie Star Restaurant is a mostly buffet style dine-in establishment with varying prices and selections depending on the day and time you visit. There was a wide array of "down home" food when I went and our waitress was very attentive. The atmosphere was nice but the name doesn't go with the place because the inside is more farmhouse less Hollywood. In my opinion the price for the dinner buffer is a bit expensive but the food is good. Overall a good experience!

A little on the salty side, but good. I love this place better than other buffets such as Golden Corral or chinese buffets. Goog ole country cooking.

Pricey but good

Waitresses need to concentrate on billing and set the drinks to be served by customers themselves. I never got my bill in time to go back to work. My work friend's wife had to take care of the bill because they were too busy serving drinks after the bill was asked for twice!

Not much to choose from at the buffet. The place was clean and the staff were friendly.

I've always loved movie star! Especially when i was little going in and getting the coins and cars!

When you walk into the restaurant, you get to take a step back in time with all the vintage signs, tractors, toys and more to look at... Each day the buffet features different foods. We went on Friday... The Fried catfish is some of the best I have ever had, along with really good fried chicken that was super juicy! There was also baked chicken, fried shrimp, boiled shrimp and ribeyes the day we went. The sides were just as good with Mac n cheese, asparagus with cheese, collard greens, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes with gravy, gumbo and so many more I’m not listing!!! the sweet potato fries were really good- they have cinnamon sugar on them. Yuuuum! Desserts were all really yummy especially the cobblers. Everything is made in house and Most food items are sourced locally ...the Mississippi sweet potatoes are so creamy no butter was needed. Definitely a place to go try!!!

One of the best places to get soul food in Hattiesburg. This is authentic, home style food and it’s great. They have at least a dozen varieties of vegetables to choose from. A variety of meat including fried chicken, meat loaf, slices turkey to name a few. They have a large dessert bar with ice cream and a few cobblers to choose from. It’s a large restaurant and it’s usually pretty full. It’s great for the whole family. The price is reasonable way since it’s all you can eat. You will not leave hungry.

One of our Ole Faithful Restaurants, always good home style cooking, very consistent quality of food and service. Mr. Roger got it right. Good Food, Good Service, Great Prices. Family owned restaurant they take pride in their restaurant and love their customers.
